Gemstone Grading Standard Clarity Grade Definitions

Clarity Grade defines the presence of inclusions or blemishes in a gemstone when viewed in the face-up position.

Clarity Grade Description (Face-Up Position)
**Clean** In the face up position, **no inclusion or blemishes** are visible by naked eye and loupe.
**Lightly Inclusion** In the face up position, inclusions are **difficult to see by naked eye** and have no effect on transparency and appearance of the stone.
**Moderately Inclusion** In the face up position, inclusions are **easily visible by naked eye** and have a minor effect on transparency and appearance of the stone.
**Highly Inclusion** In the face up position, inclusions are **very easily visible by naked eye** and have a distinct effect on transparency and appearance of the stone.
**Heavily Inclusion** In the face up position, inclusions are **extremely easily visible** and have a significant effect on the appearance of the stone.

Clarity Grade Summary

  • Clean: No visible inclusions (naked eye or loupe).

  • Lightly Inclusion: Difficult to see; no effect on appearance.

  • Moderately Inclusion: Easily visible; minor effect on transparency.
